If you haven't yet visited The Pink Lake, here's why you need to!
If you’re in Torrevieja, visiting the salt lake should be at the top of your list! The Pink Lake is famous for its extraordinary pink color, which comes from tiny microorganisms called Dunaliella salina. These little guys thrive in the lake’s salt-rich waters, creating a breathtaking view that’s perfect for photography enthusiasts.
But the magic of the Pink Lake doesn’t stop at its visuals. The lake’s saltwater is known for its therapeutic properties and are a popular spot for locals living in the area. When to go?
To truly experience the Pink Lake at its finest, the best time to visit is between April and September. During these months, the sun shines brightly, enhancing the lake’s vibrant colors. For the best photos, try to go early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the lighting is just right. Good to know: The lake will be at it’s pinkest in the late summer.
Tips for Your Visit:
Dress Comfortably: There are various ways to reach the lake, some spots might need more sturdy shoes for walking. I’ll share my favorite spot later!
What to Bring: Bring a large (5-6 liter) water bottle if you plan to swim. Due to the high salt concentration, you’ll want to rinse off before getting back in the car. Flip-flops or water shoes are also a good idea.
Best Instagram Photo: For those perfect Instagram shots, visit in the early morning or late afternoon. The sunsets here are absolutely stunning!
